TEVITI is a nonprofit organization on a mission to preserve Fiji’s cultural heritage of stenciling customary prints on masi (tapa), also known as bark cloth.
Women spend countless hours watering, flattening and stretching mulberry bark to form the fabric for the brushed on prints.
The traditional masi skills, practices and designs are slowly disappearing.
TEVITI empowers women to continue to create their heritage art on T-shirts with the opportunity for economic sustainability.
TEVITI serves as a creative cooperative for women to share their skills and to preserve this artistic expression for the next generation.
Fijian women’s lives are improved, creating a brighter future for them and their families, all the while keeping the heritage art alive for future stewards.
